Frequently Asked questions

  • At this time, I offer virtual appointments only and do not have a physical office location for in-person sessions. I offer online counselling to residents of British Columbia living anywhere in the province. Counselling sessions are offered virtually through video appointments using a secure online platform called Jane app. Phone sessions are available by request as well.

  • Most likely! If you have an extended health benefit plan, counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is often covered. You’ll just have to check with your policy to confirm coverage. I don’t offer direct billing to insurance companies. You would be responsible for session payment and then you’ll receive a receipt which you can then submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. If you have any questions or issues regarding insurance, please let me know as I’m happy to help.

  • Payment can be made at the end of the appointment by credit card or e-transfer. All clients are required to have a credit card on file.

  • I get it, life comes up! If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you are welcome to do so without any charges up until 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Any missed appointments or late cancellations (within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment) will be charged the full session fee to the credit card on file. If there is something outside of your control preventing you from attending a session (e.g., unexpected emergency), please send me an email to discuss your circumstance.

  • Yes, as a Registered CVAP Provider, your counselling sessions with me may be eligible for reimbursement if you have been approved for funding through the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP). Learn more about the CVAP Program here.

  • That’s a good question! Many people like to start with weekly or biweekly sessions to get the ball rolling, but we can decide together what works best for you and your unique circumstance. It may depend on your schedule, finances, and what you are working on in therapy. You can choose to space sessions out as you go along.

  • Another great question! This really depends on what you are working on and what works for you. Many people come for an average of 6-12 sessions, however, some people come for more than that and some less. For deep or complex issues such as processing childhood trauma or relational attachment issues, longer-term counselling may be helpful. We can check in as we go along to see what your needs are and how you’ll know when you feel ready to end counselling. You can always pause or take a break from counselling at any time.

  • Our first session together will be about deepening our understanding of how things are going for you and what you want to change. I may ask some general questions to get a better sense of the challenges you are facing and what you would like to be different. You may already have a sense of what you want to work on, so we can start there, or I can help you decide where to begin if you aren’t sure yet.
